“Sex and the City” Style

I’m not sure that there’s any television show quite so beloved to a certain generation of women as ‘Sex and the City.’ During its six season run, the show touched many people of different ages and backgrounds. Its characters’ fabulous, fast-paced Manhattan lives (and fabulous wardrobes) was both exhilirating and jealousy-inducing. But, at the end of the day, this was a show about friendship and love.

A few years after its season finale, a follow-up film was made. Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York were back, this time on the silver screen. And more stylish than ever.

Each woman on the show had her own specific taste which perfectly complemented her character, and is truly what made the show and film so successful. We had high-powered publicist Samantha, with her shoulder-pad heavy suits and affinity for primary colors and clunky accessories. Miranda, the successful lawyer, who was such a leader that she created trends and never followed them. Charlotte, the Upper East Side princess, who reveled in Chanel and conservative wasp-y garb.

And finally, Carrie Bradshaw, the ultimate risk-taker and arguably the greatest fashion icon of the 21st century.

Below are some pieces I’ve found that I think would suit each individual character to a T.
